GROUND
Search
All deployable Team Members are certified by the National Association for Search & Rescue (NASAR) as Search & Rescue Technician (SARTECH) Type IIIs and have begun, at minimum, training for SARTECH Type II.
Rescue
In addition, all deployable Team Members receive CPR & First Aid training with a wilderness application supplement. Some Team Members have advanced training as Emergency Medical Technicians or Firefighters, as well as earning a variety of Technical Rescue certifications.
Emergency Management
All Team Members are required to undergo beginner-level Incident Command System courses through FEMA and are encouraged to take other Emergency Management-related courses such as ICS position courses, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM).
Capabilities
- Self-sufficient teams of NASAR SARTECH Type III, II, and I units
- Navigation by GPS and Map & Compass with appropriate search strategy
- Documentation for ICS and search forms
- Crime scene preservation
